Christ Nicholas Coumanis

Christ N. Coumanis, a native of Mobile, Alabama, co-founded Coumanis & York, P.C. alongside David P. York, the former U.S. Legal Counsel for the Southern District of Alabama. Since beginning his legal career in 1988 as an Assistant District Attorney in Mobile County, Mr. Coumanis has established himself as a respected litigator in the Mobile-Baldwin County area.

Mr. Coumanis is well-versed in Federal, State & Municipal Criminal Defense, including White Collar Defense, Healthcare & Whistleblower Actions, and Complex Civil Litigation. He also handles Plaintiff Sexual Harassment Litigation. Over his nearly three-decade career, he has tried close to 100 jury trials in both state and federal courts across South Alabama.

A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Springhill College, Mr. Coumanis earned his law degree from Tulane Law School in 1988. He initially served as an Assistant District Attorney in Mobile County for five years, where he conducted over 65 jury trials covering a range of cases from violent crimes to intricate white-collar offenses.

In 1994, Mr. Coumanis transitioned to private practice with Briskman & Binion, P.C., a statewide general litigation firm in Mobile. He became a member of the firm in 2000, remaining there until he co-founded Coumanis & York, P.C. His professional relationship with Mr. York began during their tenure as Assistant District Attorneys in Mobile County, spanning nearly fifteen years as both colleagues and adversaries.
