Leroy Maxwell Jr.

Leroy Maxwell Jr. is a seasoned attorney in Birmingham, Alabama, with a focus on Injury Litigation, Civil Rights, and Criminal Corporate law. He has achieved significant success, recovering over $40 million for personal injury and civil rights victims and playing a key role in the dismissal of more than 5,000 criminal charges.

Before founding Maxwell + Tillman, Leroy served as a senior civil litigator and criminal defense trial lawyer at a leading firm in Birmingham. He also gained valuable experience as a Fellow with the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama, where he contributed to appellate litigation, legal assistance for the underserved, and efforts to reform unfair criminal justice policies.
