About Gregory S. Cusimano
Gregory S. Cusimano was born in Gadsden, Alabama, and completed his early education locally. He graduated with a B.S. from the University of Alabama School of Commerce and Business Administration in 1965, followed by earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1968. Returning to Gadsden, he engaged actively in civic organizations, enhancing his community involvement.
Cusimano has held numerous leadership positions within the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association, including Executive Board member, Treasurer, Vice President, President, and Past President. His expertise was recognized by the Alabama Supreme Court, appointing him to the Committee to rewrite the Alabama Rules of Evidence in 1988 and later to the Alabama Pattern Jury Instructions Committee in 1997. He also contributed to the Standing Committee of the Alabama Rules of Civil Procedure in 1998. In 1992, he was invited as Practitioner in Residence at the University of Alabama School of Law.
His active participation in the State Bar Association includes various chairmanships. In 1995, he was appointed to the Council of the Alabama Law Institute, further solidifying his influence in state legal matters. Cusimano is a member of the Alabama Academy of Attorney Mediators and joined the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and its Alabama Chapter in 2007.
Cusimano has served on the President's Council and Board of Governors of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He participated in several committees, including the Keyman Committee, PAC Task Force Committee, Trial By Jury Committee, State Legislative Advisory Committee, and the Constitutional Challenge Committee. Additionally, he chaired the Committee to Review Litigation Groups and co-chaired both the Litigation Group Oversight and Liaison Committee and the Curriculum Development Committee.
