About Edward Still
Edward Still has been a dedicated legal practitioner in Alabama and Washington, D.C., since 1971. He began his career in private practice in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, from 1971 to 1975, and then continued in Birmingham until 1997. From 1997 to 2001, he served as the Director of the Voting Interests Project at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Interests Under Law, a respected non-profit in Washington, D.C.
In 2001 and 2002, he was Special Counsel at the Washington firm of Dickstein Shapiro Morin & Oshinsky LLP. Returning to Birmingham in 2002, Edward Still has built nearly five decades of expertise in redistricting and voting entitlements. His experience includes serving as general counsel to the Alabama Democratic Party, advising several Alabama cities on redistricting, representing former Alabama Attorney General Bill Baxley in a significant election contest, and advocating for minority citizens in over 200 cases under the Voting Rights Act.
In addition to his work in voting rights, Edward Still has represented teachers and educational support staff in various claims concerning the enforcement of contractual and statutory rights, as well as the protection of constitutional and civil rights. He is also experienced in handling employment discrimination cases for both employees and employers.
