Jacob R Smets

Jacob R. Smets was born in Chandler, Arizona, where he was instilled with a strong work ethic by his blue-collar parents. He pursued his higher education at Northern Arizona University, earning dual Bachelor of Science degrees in American Political Studies and History, with a minor in Global Studies, all while playing for the NAU Ice Jacks hockey team.

After graduation, Jacob gained experience in sales and technology before enrolling at the University of South Dakota School of Law in Vermillion. During law school, he was actively involved in trial competitions, served on the Environmental Law Society and the Sustainability Committee, and volunteered with Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) services. Additionally, he contributed to building homes with Habitat for Humanity and participated in the RD HURD Family Law Indigent Defense Practicum and Veteran's Judicial Education Group legal clinic.

Jacob's dedication extended beyond academics as he managed three part-time jobs and participated in the Veteran's Black Hills 14th Annual Marathon, showcasing his exceptional ability to multitask. He graduated in May 2018 and returned to Flagstaff to join Glazer Hammond, PLLC as a criminal corporate attorney, where he continues to serve with commitment and integrity.
