About Mike Rainwater
Mike Rainwater was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, and has family connections to Crawford and White County. He graduated from North Little Rock High School and pursued higher education at Henderson State and Louisiana Tech. Initially working as a computer programmer across various states, Mike's career path shifted towards law while he was employed full-time at Texas Eastern Corporation. He attended South Texas College of Law at night, where he discovered his passion for the legal field.
Returning to Arkansas to raise his family, Mike began his legal career as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Little Rock. He later transitioned into private practice, focusing on commercial law and establishing strong connections throughout Central Arkansas. In the early 1980s, he joined forces with attorney John Gill, representing Arkansas cities via the Municipal League Defense Fund, which nurtured his interest in constitutional law and public service.
In 1987, Mike played a key role in developing a liability defense program for the Association of Arkansas Counties, serving as litigation counsel for 31 years and managing over 6,000 cases. He continues to serve as Outside General Counsel for the AAC Risk Management Fund.
Mike shifted to personal injury law in 1993 and co-founded Rainwater, Holt & Sexton in 2006. The firm, now with over 25 attorneys and 100 staff members, thrives on the principle of prioritizing victims' needs. Mike has successfully represented over 30,000 Arkansans, providing support during challenging times.
Outside of his professional life, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife, their three sons, and six grandchildren. He also dedicates his leisure time to working on the family farm, fishing, and duck hunting across Arkansas.
