Jo-Anna Nieves

Jo-Anna Nieves is the founder of The Nieves Law Firm, Criminal Defense Attorneys, where she is dedicated to removing the stigma from criminal defense. Her exceptional work has earned her recognition from multiple award agencies. In 2023, she was named the Best Criminal Defense Lawyer and Best DUI Lawyer in Oakland by Expertise.com. Jo-Anna's expertise extends beyond criminal defense, as she has been cited in multiple published opinions for her work in post-conviction relief cases. After passing the California Bar in 2009, Jo-Anna began her legal career at the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office. She later transitioned to a role as a trial attorney at a creditors' rights law firm, where she successfully handled over 400 contested matters with a 95% success rate.
