Robert Alfred McLaughlin Jr

Robert A. McLaughlin is a seasoned legal professional with a strong foundation in economics, having earned his undergraduate degree from Boston University in 1984. He furthered his education with a Master's Degree in Economics from Claremont Graduate School in 1986. By 1990, he completed his Juris Doctor at the University of San Diego School of Law and was admitted to the California State Bar.

McLaughlin has made significant contributions to the legal community, notably serving as the former President of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association (CAAA), which boasts 20 chapters across the state. He also held the position of Secretary on the CAAA’s Executive Board and led the San Diego County Chapter of CAAA as President.

A respected voice in workers' compensation law, McLaughlin frequently speaks at conventions and seminars, sharing his expertise on various legal issues. His insights have been featured in numerous events hosted by defense, applicant, and third-party organizations.

In addition to his speaking engagements, McLaughlin has contributed to legal scholarship. His article on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Privacy Rule, and the Longshore Act was published in the Loyola Maritime Law Journal in November 2013. He is also an active member of the San Diego County Bar Association.
