Andrew John Chan

Andrew John Chan is a senior counsel at Ericksen Arbuthnot's Oakland/East Bay office, where he co-chairs the firm's Appellate Work Group. Known for his extensive litigation expertise, Andrew represents both individuals and institutions in state and federal courts. His practice spans insurance coverage and defense, intellectual property, personal injury, professional liability, real estate, and various commercial matters.

Andrew's legal acumen is recognized with an AV® Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and he has been named a Northern California Super Lawyers Rising Star by Thomson Reuters. He holds B.A. degrees in Cognitive Science and History, with a minor in Philosophy, from the University of California, Berkeley. During his time at the University of Miami School of Law, Andrew was active on the Faculty Committee (Curriculum), Honor Council, International Moot Court Board, and Volunteer Tax Assistance Program.

His legal experience is further enriched by clerkships with Judge Maxine Cohen Lando in Florida's Eleventh Judicial Circuit, the Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Office, the City Attorney's Office in Miami, and the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.

Andrew is licensed to practice in California, Florida, the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States District Courts for all districts of California and the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. Additionally, he is a registered California real estate broker and is authorized to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
