Benjamin R. Schwefel

Benjamin R. Schwefel, a Partner at Murtaugh, is a certified specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate law by the State Bar of California. Based in Irvine, his practice encompasses trusts and estates, focusing on estate planning, trust administration, probate, and fiduciary litigation. Benjamin represents a diverse clientele, including high-net-worth individuals, families, trustees, beneficiaries, entrepreneurs, business executives, and professional fiduciaries. He guides clients through advanced estate planning strategies to minimize income, gift, and estate tax implications.

In addition, Benjamin advises on the formation and operation of both profit and not-for-profit business entities, such as limited liability companies (LLCs), corporations, family limited partnerships (FLPs), private foundations, and public charities. He holds membership in the Executive Committee of the Trust and Estates Section of the California Lawyers Association (TEXCOM) and has previously served as the Education Chair for the New Lawyers Section of the same association.

Active in the local legal community, Benjamin is involved with the Orange County Bar Association and the Orange County chapter of the USD Law Alumni Association. He earned his B.A. from UC San Diego and his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law.

Outside his professional life, Benjamin is a dedicated foodie, always on the hunt for the perfect glass of red wine with his wife, his high-school sweetheart. He enjoys attending summer concerts at the Hollywood Bowl and is the proud owner of two basset hounds. He regularly volunteers with the Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California.
