About Ivan Parron
Ivan Parron boasts more than two decades of executive and legal expertise within the television, music, and motion picture sectors. He has been a pivotal figure as the past-chair of the Florida Bar Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law section and serves as a board member of the Miami-Dade County Film & Entertainment Advisory Board. In addition, he is an elected Grammy Governor of the Recording Academy.
Before establishing his own law firm and working as in-house counsel at Universal Music Group, Mr. Parron founded and led Ritmoteca.com, Inc. This company was the world's first legal platform for downloadable Latin music via the Internet and mobile networks. Often credited with inventing the online music store, Mr. Parron’s work at Ritmoteca laid the groundwork for the business model later adopted by Apple iTunes.
Mr. Parron was instrumental in pioneering digital distribution agreements, securing deals with over 60 leading independent record labels. He amassed exclusive digital rights to more than 600,000 music tracks and videos, including catalogs from artists such as Tito Puente, Marc Anthony, and Celia Cruz. His strategic vision enabled Ritmoteca to become the first Latin music venture to sign digital distribution agreements with major record labels like Sony Music, BMG Music, Warner Music Group, and Universal Music Group.
Under his leadership, Ritmoteca formed strategic partnerships with major corporations, including Microsoft, AOL, Real Networks, Nokia, Motorola, MusicNet, and Napster. Mr. Parron grew the company to 200 employees, with satellite offices in Europe, supported by private and institutional investors, such as Bain Capital in Boston.
Prior to Ritmoteca, Mr. Parron consulted for major international media brands, including MTV, Nickelodeon, and Discovery Channel. He also founded Internet Marketing Consultants in 1994.
