Phil Clark, J.D., is a distinguished criminal defense attorney with a rich family history in law, including Jonas J. Clark, appointed by President Abraham Lincoln as the U.S. legal professional for the District of Kansas City in 1861, and William Clark of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Mr. Clark earned his law degree from the University of Denver, where he excelled in trial advocacy. Before his bar admission, he completed over 35 supervised trials, a remarkable achievement in modern legal education. In 1990, he passed the Colorado Bar Exam with such distinction that the second portion was waived.
Following his bar admission, Mr. Clark served for nearly two decades as a senior prosecutor in the Metro-Denver area, handling complex cases such as homicides, drug trafficking, DUI, and domestic violence. He later became the Deputy District Lawyer for Weld County and was elected to the State Governing Board of the Colorado District Lawyer’s Council. In this role, he collaborated with elected District Attorneys and senior officials from the Governor’s Office, Counsel General’s Office, and United States Attorney’s Office.
His extensive prosecutorial experience provides him with a deep understanding of how criminal cases are constructed and tried, knowledge he now leverages to benefit his clients in criminal defense.
