Michael J Thomson

Michael J Thomson has been a vital part of Purvis Thomson, LLP since 2001, where he exclusively practices civil litigation. His expertise spans a range of cases, including serious automobile and trucking collisions, product liability, civil rights violations, brain and spinal injuries, and wrongful death.

Michael served as lead counsel in significant wrongful death product liability cases against Taser International, Inc. and Daimler Trucks North America, Inc. He also collaborated with John Purvis on a defective seatback case against Ford Motor Company, where the jury awarded over $2.9 million in damages. His cases have been featured in prominent publications such as the Denver Post and the Daily Camera.

Michael's practice experience covers both Federal and State District Courts as well as Appellate Courts, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of legal proceedings. His work before joining the firm and his ongoing contributions have equipped him with in-depth knowledge of governmental operations and related laws. Additionally, he is committed to pro bono work.

Originally from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Michael graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1984. He earned his law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1994. Before joining Purvis Thomson, he worked as a political consultant in Colorado, advising candidates for various offices, including the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. From 1999 to 2000, he was the Director of Community Relations and Lobbyist for the Boulder Valley School District.
