Penny Merkel

Penny Merkel has devoted her legal career to representing injured workers across Colorado, never representing insurance companies. As the owner and managing partner of The Merkel Law Firm, LLC, she is esteemed by her peers for her ethical standards and professional achievements.

Penny graduated cum laude from the Florida Coastal School of Law. Her undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Colorado, Denver, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, in Business Administration.

She is an active member of the Workers' Financial Recovery Education Association (WCEA), an organization committed to advocating for Colorado employees injured on the job. Since 1984, the WCEA has provided a voice for affected workers, both in and out of the courtroom. The association supports attorneys like Penny through education, research, and shared resources, offering accredited courses and proprietary tools to enhance the representation of injured workers.

The WCEA collaborates with the Division of Workers Recovery to streamline the process of securing benefits for injured workers. Annually, the association lobbies at the State Capitol, initiating legislation and securing sponsors to improve benefits and processes for these workers.

Penny is also a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Denver Bar Association, and the Workers Compensation Section of the Colorado Bar.
