Joseph A. Gershman

Joseph A. Gershman is a distinguished partner at Lax, Neville & Intelisano, LLP, where he focuses on complex commercial, securities, real estate, and bankruptcy litigation. His peers have awarded him the AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, acknowledging him as an "excellent lawyer" and "outstanding litigator." In 2013, he received The Legal Aid Society’s Pro Bono Publico Award for his exceptional service.

Mr. Gershman has a wealth of experience in commercial and securities arbitration, representing entities such as financial services firms, hedge funds, real estate companies, and litigation trusts. His expertise extends to handling disputes involving securities fraud, contractual breaches, partnership disputes, lender liability claims, RICO claims, antitrust issues, and asset recovery for insolvent company creditors.

Before joining Lax, Neville & Intelisano, LLP, he was a partner at Rich, Intelisano & Katz, and prior to that, he served as a partner at Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman. His legal career began as an associate at Cahill Gordon & Reindel.

Mr. Gershman earned his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1996, graduating cum laude, where he was actively involved as a member of the Board of Student Advisers and Co-Chair of the Tenant Advocacy Project. He completed his undergraduate studies at Princeton University in 1990, also cum laude, majoring in public policy at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.

He is a member of the New York State Bar and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of New York, Eastern District of New York, and District of Colorado, as well as the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Gershman is also affiliated with the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the Federal Bar Council.
