Richard Canina

With a legal career spanning since 1985, Richard G. Canina has been a steadfast advocate for criminal defense in Brevard County, Florida. He earned his B.A. in criminal justice with Honors from The University of Florida at just 20 years old, followed by a Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law. During his time at Stetson, Mr. Canina served as Vice President of Sigma Nu Phi Litigation Fraternity and completed an impactful internship with the Office of The Public Defender, Sixth Judicial Circuit.

Post-graduation, Mr. Canina joined the Brevard County Public Defender’s Office as an Assistant Public Defender in the trial division, where he spent nearly five years. In this role, he defended clients facing charges from misdemeanor traffic offenses to first-degree premeditated murder. His unwavering commitment to criminal defense is evident in his exclusive focus on this area of law.

Mr. Canina is a full member of the Florida Bar and is licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He actively participates in several legal organizations, including the Brevard County Bar Association, The Orange County Bar Association, The Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers.
