Daniel Cavanaugh

Daniel M. Cavanaugh brings over 25 years of trial experience to his practice in Collier County, Florida. Originally from West Springfield, Massachusetts, he relocated to Naples in 1997 to embark on his legal career. Recognized for his exceptional trial skills, he has been honored with multiple awards, including Legal Professional of the Year from the State Attorney's Office in Fort Myers. His peers have rated him AV Preeminent®, the highest possible rating.

In his criminal defense practice, Mr. Cavanaugh focuses on DUI matters and broader criminal defense. He earned the ACS-CHAL Forensic Lawyer Scientist designation in 2022. His prosecutorial experience includes serving in Lee County's Special Victim’s Unit and as Chief Assistant State Lawyer in Hendry and Glades counties.

While at the Collier County State Attorney’s Office, Mr. Cavanaugh held the position of Misdemeanor and Juvenile Chief. He managed significant cases, including those featured on Dateline NBC’s “To Catch a Predator.” Additionally, he participated in the hiring and death penalty committees.

Mr. Cavanaugh has provided training to prosecutors and law enforcement in Florida and Vermont. He was a part-time instructor at the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy and organized inter-agency training sessions.
