Mary Sherris was born in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida. She pursued her undergraduate studies in Political Science at the University of Florida and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Urban Planning from the same institution. Her legal education was completed at the University of Akron, where she obtained her Juris Doctor and contributed to the Akron Law Review.

Ms. Sherris further honed her legal skills through the Trial Advocacy program at the National District Attorneys Association National Advocacy Center in Columbia, SC, and the ATLA’s Advanced Trial Advocacy program at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, MA. Since 1997, she has resided in Orlando, Florida, where she embarked on her legal career.

Her professional journey includes serving as an Assistant State Lawyer for Norman Wolfinger in Seminole County, Florida. During this time, she prosecuted a range of criminal cases from misdemeanors to serious felonies. In 2000, she received the Legal Counsel of The Year – Pride in Excellence Award from the Seminole County State Attorneys Office.
