Michael A. Sullivan

Michael A. Sullivan, a seasoned attorney with more than 35 years of legal expertise, specializes in complex civil litigation, internal investigations, and criminal prosecutions. A former federal prosecutor, he has been acknowledged as one of the "Best Lawyers in America." Recently, he served as Counsel to the Volkswagen AG Independent Compliance Monitor, Larry D. Thompson. His practice extends to advising families both in the U.S. and internationally on compliance with U.S. laws.

Mr. Sullivan is renowned for effectively trying intricate disputes for individuals and corporations, including cases involving fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, business disputes, and serious personal injury. He is a dedicated advocate for whistleblowers, representing clients in qui tam actions under the False Claims Act, as well as SEC, FCPA, CFTC, and IRS whistleblower cases.

Notably, Mr. Sullivan was co-counsel in two major health care fraud qui tam recoveries: the $465 million settlement by Mylan, Inc. in 2017 over the misclassification of EpiPen, and the landmark case United States ex rel. Glenda Martin v. Life Care Centers of America, Inc., which resulted in the largest health care fraud settlement against a skilled nursing facility chain in 2016.

Since the inception of the IRS Whistleblower Program in December 2006, Mr. Sullivan has represented clients in submissions totaling billions of dollars. He has collaborated with the IRS Whistleblower Office to present programs on best practices for pursuing IRS whistleblower claims.

In 2009 and 2010, Mr. Sullivan provided insights to the U.S. Senate Banking Committee on the operation of the SEC and CFTC Whistleblower Programs. He also conducts and oversees internal investigations for clients facing business integrity challenges.
