Grant K. Usry

A native of Thomson, Georgia, Grant K. Usry graduated from Thomson High School in 1996. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from the University of Georgia in 2000. After gaining six years of experience in various fields, Grant pursued a law degree, obtaining his Juris Doctor from the Florida Coastal School of Law in 2009.

Upon returning to Augusta, Grant began his legal career by volunteering at James T. Jones, Jr. PC in Thomson. He then joined the Augusta District Legal Professional’s Office as a State Prosecutor in 2010, where he prosecuted a range of offenses, including DUI, shoplifting, robbery, aggravated child molestation, and murder. Over five years, he managed more than 700 criminal cases and secured favorable jury verdicts in the majority of the trials he led.

Grant served as the lead Assistant District Attorney for the Augusta Judicial Circuit Drug Court Program, under the guidance of the Honorable James G. Blanchard. He remains an advocate for alternative court programs and is a member of the Advisory Board for the Augusta Judicial Circuit Accountability Courts, emphasizing the importance of rehabilitation for young individuals dealing with addiction.

In March 2015, Grant joined Durham Law Firm as an associate, specializing in Criminal Defense Litigation and Plaintiff’s Civil Litigation. Since transitioning to private practice, he has successfully resolved hundreds of criminal cases, achieving favorable outcomes in the majority of jury trials. In the summer of 2020, The Usry Firm P.C. was established, continuing his commitment to providing dedicated legal advocacy for clients.
