Max Ruthenberg-Marshall

Max Ruthenberg-Marshall is a dedicated practitioner of Family Law for the Modern Family®, focusing on clients whose needs are often unmet by traditional legal practices. Max's areas of expertise include divorce, custody, child support, legitimation, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, adoption, contempt, and temporary protective orders. As a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem, Max represents children's best interests in contested custody cases and is also a registered domestic relations mediator.

Max is deeply committed to pro bono efforts, actively taking cases through the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF), DeKalb Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (DVLF), and Atlanta Courtroom Aid. Max holds the position of VP of Membership for the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers and is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association, DeKalb Bar Association, Cobb County Bar Association, and Stonewall Bar Association.

Max earned a J.D. from The George Washington University and a B.A. in English from the University of Maryland. Max is admitted to practice in the State Bar of Georgia and the California State Bar. Outside of work, Max enjoys participating in a book club, attending Atlanta United games, and experimenting with new cupcake recipes. Max also supports cancer research and treatment by participating in open-water swims through Swim Across America. Max resides in Decatur with her partner, Kevin, and their two cats, Freyja and Lorna.
