Arne Werchick

Arne Werchick, now retired from private practice, has had an illustrious legal career marked by significant contributions to arbitration and judicial processes. He served as the Presiding Arbitrator of the State Bar of California from 2006 to 2008 and was deeply involved with the State Bar's Committee on Mandatory Fee Arbitration from 2001 to 2008, where he was Chair from 2004 to 2005 and Vice Chair from 2002 to 2004.

His commitment to judicial excellence is further evidenced by his role on the California State Bar Committee on Judicial Nominees Evaluation since 2009. Additionally, Werchick has been the Vice Chair of the Bar Association of San Francisco's Committee on Arbitration and Mediation of Fee Disputes since 1996.

His editorial contributions include serving on the Board of Contributors for Medical Doctor Negligence Law & Strategy, affiliated with the New York and National Law Journals from 1983 to 1990, and the Editorial Board of the San Francisco Lawyer from 1991 to 1995. In leadership roles, he chaired the Section on Insurance, Negligence & Reimbursement Law of the Bar Association of San Francisco in 1971.

Werchick's judicial roles include serving as an Administrative Law Judge pro tem for Keyhea hearings on involuntary psychiatric medication administration to inmates from 1998 to 2003, and as a Judge pro tem for the San Francisco Superior Court from 1991 to 1997. He also adjudicated small claims in the Nevada County Municipal Court from 1996 to 2004.

He contributed to the Advisory Committee on Voir Dire for the Judicial Council of California between 1988 and 1992, coauthoring the standardized Juror Questionnaire for Civil Cases (form MC-001) in 1993. His advisory roles extended to the Private Judging Advisory Panel at the Institute for Social Analysis in 1991.

A lawyer delegate to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference in Seattle in 1969, Werchick also held leadership positions with the California Trial Lawyers Association (now CAOC), serving as President in 1980 and Vice President in 1978 and 1979.
