About David Jakeman
David A. Jakeman is the founding legal counsel of Beacon Immigration, where he specializes in immigration law. From a young age, David developed a keen interest in foreign cultures and languages, which ultimately shaped his legal career. During high school, he pursued studies in Spanish and German. Following graduation, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Mexico City and nearby regions, fostering his affection for the Mexican people and the Spanish language.
Upon returning, David completed a Bachelor’s degree in Near Eastern Studies at Brigham Young University, graduating magna cum laude. His undergraduate years were marked by studies in Arabic, French, Italian, Slovak, and Spanish, as well as time spent living in Syria and Slovakia. He then earned a Master of Public Administration from the same institution, initially intending to join the Foreign Service. It was during his second year in the program that he decided to pursue law.
David attended the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree, graduating magna cum laude. His law school experience included studying immigration and spending a summer in Amman, Jordan, working in international arbitration. This experience inspired him to specialize in immigration law, a field he continues to be passionate about.
In addition to his legal work, David enjoys traveling abroad and has a strong affinity for languages. He values spending quality time with his wife and children. Currently, he resides in Kennewick, Washington, where he continues to practice immigration law.
