John Olson

John L. Olson, a dedicated attorney in Captain Cook, Hawaii, offers extensive legal services including litigation for civil, probate, and trust disputes; business advisory on contracts and management; transactional work for individuals and businesses; criminal defense; and estate planning in Kona and Kamuela. As a sole practitioner, John has developed a broad spectrum of expertise to effectively support his clients.

Born and raised on the Island of O`ahu, John relocated to Kona in 1973 with his wife, where they raised their two sons, Robert and Peter Olson, both of whom followed in his footsteps to become attorneys. John's legal career in Kona began in 1973 alongside Richard Ishida. By 1975, John joined the Office of the Public Defender in Hilo, advancing to Supervising Deputy for the Big Island before establishing his private practice in Kona in 1978. His office was situated at the Kealakekua Ranch Center for 34 years before relocating to its current premises. John is also the Co-Founder of the West Hawai`i Bar Association.

In addition to his practice, John has served as a Per Diem Judge for the District and Family Court, further showcasing his commitment to the legal community.
