Georgia K. McMillen

Georgia K. McMillen brings extensive expertise in both state and federal legal arenas, specializing in sentencing, appellate litigation, and post-conviction proceedings. Her federal law practice has seen her handle some of the most challenging prosecutions in Hawaii's federal court history, including an appeal involving military stealth technology sold to foreign governments. Additionally, she has advocated for victims in cases of tax fraud, mortgage fraud, immigration offenses, misuse of public funds, alien smuggling, mail fraud, wire fraud, and drug trafficking. Beyond litigation, Ms. McMillen is well-versed in mediation, having trained extensively in this area. Ms. McMillen's academic credentials include graduating from Kamehameha Schools, the University of Hawai`i, and New York Law School, where she was the managing editor of the Human Rights Annual and graduated with honors in 1987. Her legal career began in the litigation group at Lowenstein Sandler in New Jersey, where she represented both individual and corporate clients in complex business, commercial litigation, employment cases, and environmental insurance coverage disputes.

In addition to her legal practice, she has taught business and criminal law at Hawai`i Pacific University and University of Hawai`i Maui College. She served on the Board of Directors for the Hawai`i State Bar Association from 2015 to 2017 and was the Appellate Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit’s Judicial Conference from 2010 to 2013.
