About Steven L. Hartley
Steven L. Hartley has dedicated over 13 years to the practice of Family Law. He began his legal career in 1996 at Stirling & Kleintop, where he became a partner in September 2000. In 2004, Mr. Hartley relocated to Bloomington, Indiana, continuing his focus on family law with Mallor, Clendening, Grodner and Bohrer, LLP. Returning to Hawaii in 2005, he partnered with Frank T. Lockwood to establish Lockwood & Hartley, ALC. By 2009, Mr. Hartley founded Hartley & McGehee, LLP, where he continues to serve the people of Hawaii in all aspects of family law.
Mr. Hartley earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (B.A. cum laude, 1991) and his J.D. from the William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawaii, in 1996.
He holds membership in the Hawaii State (Family Law Section), Indiana State, and American (Family Law Section, Litigation Section) Bar Associations. Additionally, he is affiliated with the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Mr. Hartley has served as Secretary of the Hawaii State Bar Association Family Law Section from 2000 to 2003, was Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect in 2004, and has been an appointed arbitrator with the Hawaii Court-Annexed Arbitration Program.
Since 2003, Mr. Hartley has been a court-appointed Voluntary Settlement Master for the Family Court. He has authored numerous articles and delivered presentations on family law topics such as paternity, child support, property division, mediation, discovery strategies, and divorce tax issues.
Mr. Hartley is a BV Rated legal professional by Martindale-Hubbell and is licensed to practice in both Hawaii and Indiana.
