Jasen B. Nielsen

Jasen B. Nielsen began his legal career in 2006 after being admitted to the California bar. He initially worked as a prosecutor from 2007 to 2008, before transitioning to private practice as a defense counsel from 2008 to 2020, serving areas from Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo. In late 2017, Jasen relocated to Kauai, Hawaii, where he welcomed his third son in 2018. During this time, he maintained his Santa Barbara-based practice, commuting frequently between California and Hawaii.

In February 2020, Jasen successfully passed the Hawaii bar exam, just before the global pandemic. He continued to manage his California practice until early 2021, when he decided to close it and focus entirely on his new life in Hawaii. Despite personal challenges, Jasen emerged resilient and ready to advocate for his clients.

In 2023, Jasen joined the Kauai public defender's office, where his extensive experience allowed him to swiftly manage a significant caseload, including traffic, OVUII (DUI), and criminal cases. His diligence led to the dismissal of numerous cases after uncovering procedural errors by the Kauai Police Department. By December 2023, Jasen returned to private practice, committed to delivering aggressive and compassionate representation.
