About Axel R. Cerny

Axel R. Cerny, a native of DuPage County, began his educational journey at Wheaton Academy in West Chicago. He graduated in 2006 and pursued a Bachelor of Science in Communications/Journalism at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, earning his degree in 2010. Returning to Illinois, he attended The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, where he obtained his Juris Doctorate in 2013.

After passing the bar, Axel joined the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office as an Assistant State’s Attorney, working under Bob Berlin. Over two decades, he prosecuted numerous criminal cases, including more than 70 trials and 9 jury trials to verdict. In 2015, Axel transitioned to Mullen, Winthers & Cerny, P.C., where he expanded his focus to real estate, family, business/contractual law, and estate planning, while maintaining his criminal law expertise.

Axel's deep understanding of courtroom procedures and his commitment to client service make him a reliable advocate throughout the legal process. He and his wife, Courtney, actively participate in the Wheaton Bible Church community in West Chicago, where Axel volunteers with the Awanas ministry.

Axel is also a dedicated member of the DuPage County Bar Association, continuously contributing to the legal community.
