Colleen C.M. Ramais

Colleen C. M. Ramais is an integral part of Meyer Capel’s litigation team in Champaign County, Illinois. Before joining the firm, she completed a two-year judicial clerkship with the Honorable Justice Rita B. Garman at the Illinois Supreme Court. Colleen graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2010, where she consistently made the Dean's List and received the prestigious Celia M. Howard Fellowship for graduate study.

During her law school tenure, Colleen was recognized with the CALI Excellence for the Future Award ten times for achieving the highest grades in courses such as contracts, commercial law, criminal law, and elder law. Her academic excellence was further highlighted by honors distinctions in legal research and writing. As an associate editor of the Illinois Law Review, she published her note, ‘Til Death Do You Part … and This Time We Mean It: Denial of Access to Divorce for Same-Sex Couples. Additionally, she was actively involved in student organizations, serving as treasurer for both the International Law Society and the co-founder of the Health Law Society.

Colleen holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in economics and French from the University of Illinois and is fluent in French. She also earned a master’s degree in French-English translation from the Université de Liège in Belgium, where she resided for two years.

As a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Champaign County Bar Association, and the East Central Illinois Women Attorneys Association, Colleen is deeply connected to her professional community. Residing in Champaign with her husband, Thierry, and their sons Raphael and Noah, she enjoys reading, cooking, and traveling in her spare time.
