David B. Sholem

David B. Sholem has been with Meyer Capel since 1978 and was elevated to shareholder status in 1982. He completed his undergraduate studies at Brown University and obtained his Juris Doctor from both the University of Illinois College of Law and Case Western Reserve University’s School of Law in 1978.

Admitted to the Illinois State Bar in 1978, Mr. Sholem has been actively involved in professional organizations, including the Champaign County (Illinois) Bar Association, where he served as President, the Illinois State Bar Association's Real Estate Section, and the American Bar Association.

Mr. Sholem has extensive experience representing real estate developers and investors, including real estate investment trusts, institutional investors, and real estate asset managers. His expertise spans various asset classes such as multifamily, commercial, and agricultural real estate. As a principal of Providence Capital Group, Inc., with offices in Encinitas, California, he has gained valuable insights into the challenges faced by real estate investors.

In addition to his real estate work, David Sholem is proficient in business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financing, and asset purchase and sale transactions. He represents start-up technology companies that commercialize technology developed at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

David is actively engaged in the community, having served on the boards of Sinai Temple Congregation, the Community Advisory Board of the Celebration Company (The Station Theater), and the Executive Committee of the Brown University Alumni Schools Committee. From 2001 to 2005, he was elected to the Board of Education for the Champaign, Illinois school district. David is married and has three children.
