Matt C. Deering

Matt C. Deering, a native of Champaign-Urbana, provides seasoned legal counsel to both large corporations and small businesses at Meyer Capel. He began his journey with the firm in 1994 as a law clerk, advancing to a full-time associate in 1996, and achieving the role of shareholder by January 1, 2003.

Mr. Deering holds a bachelor of arts in economics from the University of Kentucky and a juris doctorate from Ohio Northern University. His practice areas include business and residential real estate transactions, intellectual property development and protection, and regulatory matters for telecommunications companies before the Illinois Commerce Commission and other state bodies.

Outside his professional commitments, Mr. Deering contributes to the community as a board member of Habitat for Humanity of Champaign and Piatt Counties, and is active in the Champaign Rotary Club. He resides in Savoy with his wife, Kate, a University of Illinois graduate employed in the pharmaceutical industry, and their children, Grace, Paige, and Davis. In his leisure time, he enjoys golf, snow skiing, reading, and traveling.
