About Janice Dantes
Janice Dantes, affectionately called "Apple" by her family, is a passionate legal professional with a focus on family law. Born in Angeles City, Philippines, at the former Clark Air Force Base, she relocated to Chicago, Illinois, with her family when she was just three years old. Fluent in Tagalog, Janice is committed to addressing the judicial needs of Chicago's Filipino community.
Janice earned her J.D. from the University of Chicago and received her Juris Doctorate from DePaul University in 2012. She has been practicing law in Illinois since 2013. Her interest in family law was sparked by witnessing the struggles of Filipino couples, especially women, who often lack resources to explore marital options. In the Philippines, where divorce is not legal, Janice has been instrumental in helping families navigate these challenges.
Janice is dedicated to advocating for Filipina women, particularly those in abusive relationships or financial distress, to help them find new paths forward. She is a former president of the Filipino American Lawyer Association (FALA) and currently manages the AGiLA pro bono legal clinic, a branch of Chicago Volunteer Legal Services (CVLS).
As the owner of Pinay Law LLC, a boutique firm in downtown Chicago, Janice serves the legal needs of the Filipino community in areas such as divorce, child custody/support, guardianship, estate planning, probate, real estate, and personal injury/workers' compensation. Outside of her professional life, Janice is a wife and mother of three sons, with her husband also practicing law.
