Rory T Weiler

Rory T. Weiler, a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, is a leading authority in family law, particularly in child custody cases and intricate economic matters related to family and closely held businesses. He is recognized as an Illinois “Super Lawyer” and one of the “Best Lawyers in America,” and is a member of the Leading Lawyers Network.

Rory actively participates in the Kane County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), contributing significantly to the ISBA and its charitable arm, the Illinois Bar Foundation. His leadership roles include serving on the AAML Illinois chapter Board of Directors and the Illinois Supreme Court’s Committee on Character and Fitness. Rory is also engaged in local government and community boards, frequently speaking to civic and public interest groups.

In June 2022, Rory will assume the role of ISBA president, having been elected as Third Vice President-Elect. He is a seasoned lecturer, having presented at seminars organized by the KCBA, the Illinois Institute for Continuing Courtroom Education, the AAML, and the ISBA. His topics cover a wide range of family law issues, including child custody litigation, financial aspects of divorce, and trial practice. Rory has also authored the book “Divorce Tools and Techniques,” published by James Publishing Co.

Rory is committed to providing legal services to those in need, earning the KCBA's Pro Bono Award in 2001, the ISBA’s John C. McAndrews Pro Bono Service Award in 2005, and a national Legal Services Corporation certificate of appreciation in 2011. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from 1975 and a law degree from John Marshall Law School, graduating in 1979.
