David Karnes, originally from Norfolk, Virginia, pursued his academic journey at Tabernacle Baptist School in Virginia Beach. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pre-law from Bob Jones University in 1996 and graduated magna cum laude with a law degree from the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis in 2001. During his law studies, he served as a Note Development Editor for the Indiana Law Review and participated in the National Moot Court Competition.
Mr. Karnes has completed a 40-hour civil mediation training and was honored with the Francis J. Feeney, Jr. Tax award. He is an active member of the Muncie Bar Association, the Indiana Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
Residing in Selma, Indiana, with his wife Tara and their four children—Brayden, Brandt, Bracken, and Bryce—Mr. Karnes is deeply engaged in the Muncie community. He holds positions on the Lifestream Services Board of Directors and serves as Vice Chair of the First Choice for Women Board. Additionally, he participates in governance committees for the United Way of Delaware County and the Soup Kitchen of Muncie. His past board involvements include the United Way of Delaware County and Hillcroft Services.
In his personal life, Mr. Karnes is involved in coaching soccer for Burris and enjoys watching his sons play basketball and soccer. He is a long-standing member of Grace Baptist Church in Muncie, Indiana, where he has served as a deacon and deacon chairman for over 20 years.
