L. Katie Buckner

L. Katie Buckner is a dedicated attorney based in Brownsburg, Indiana, with a primary focus on Insurance Defense, Insurance Coverage, and Estate Planning. She provides legal counsel to individuals injured throughout Indiana, adeptly handling cases in both state and federal courts. In her Insurance Defense Litigation practice, Katie represents insured clients facing third-party claims, including bodily injury and premises liability. Additionally, she advocates for insurance companies in first-party claims initiated by insured parties.

Katie's expertise extends to assisting those injured in creating comprehensive estate plans. She collaborates closely with clients and their families to draft essential documents such as wills, trusts, guardianships, powers of attorney, healthcare powers of attorney, and living wills.

Before joining The Tyra Law Firm in 2018, Katie gained diverse legal experience in franchise law, interned with the Indiana Solicitor General, and served at Indiana University Student Legal Services. There, she supported college students with various legal issues, including housing protections, employment and business contracts, and minor criminal matters.

Katie completed her undergraduate studies at Cedarville University before pursuing her law degree at Indiana University Maurer School of Law. During her time in law school, she held leadership roles in several student organizations, including the Federalist Society, Christian Legal Society, and Advocates for Life. She also served as a student mentor and was an Articles Editor for the Indiana Journal of Law and Social Equality in her third year.

A Blackstone Fellow, Katie is an active member of the Indiana State Bar Association, Indianapolis Bar Association, and the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana. She is admitted to practice in the State of Indiana and the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. Katie is committed to community service, regularly volunteering her time pro bono with the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic.
