L. Katie Buckner

L. Katie Buckner is an accomplished attorney in Hendricks County, Indiana, focusing her practice on Insurance Corporate, Insurance Coverage, and Estate Planning. She advocates for victims statewide in both state and federal courts. Within her insurance defense work, Katie represents insured parties in third-party claims involving tort liability, such as bodily injury and premises liability. Additionally, she represents insurance companies in first-party claims initiated by insured clients.

In her estate planning practice, Katie collaborates closely with clients and their families to develop comprehensive plans. This includes drafting wills, trusts, guardianships, powers of attorney, healthcare powers of attorney, and living wills.

Prior to joining The Tyra Law Firm in 2018, Katie gained experience in franchise law, served as an intern with the Indiana Solicitor General, and supported college students through Indiana University Student Legal Services. There, she assisted with housing protections, employment and business contracts, and minor criminal matters.

Katie completed her undergraduate studies at Cedarville University before obtaining her law degree from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. During her law school years, she was active in leadership roles in student organizations such as the Federalist Society, Christian Legal Society, and Advocates for Life. She also served as a student mentor and as an Articles Editor for the Indiana Journal of Law and Social Equality.

Katie is a Blackstone Fellow and an active member of the Indiana State Bar Association, Indianapolis Bar Association, and the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana. She is admitted to practice in the State of Indiana and the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. In addition, she volunteers pro bono with the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic.
