About Daniel Joseph Rothman
Daniel J. Rothman has built a robust career in criminal law since his admission to the bar in 2002. With a solid foundation as a former prosecutor, he spent seven years in the Story County Counsel's office and served as the senior member of the OWI Division at the Polk County Attorney's Office until March 2009. During his tenure, he contributed as an instructor for the Prosecutors Training Council’s Annual Officer’s training school and presented at the Central Iowa Traffic Safety Task Force’s annual training on OWI law.
In 2011, Mr. Rothman was invited by the Law Review CLE Group to educate fellow attorneys in Des Moines on handling OWI cases. His prosecutorial experience spans from OWI matters to major felonies, including burglary, sexual assault, narcotic offenses, and white-collar crimes. He is a graduate of the Trial Advocacy program at the National District Attorneys Association’s National Advocacy Center at the University of South Carolina.
As a defense attorney, Daniel Rothman has represented clients in a wide array of cases ranging from minor offenses to serious charges like murder. He has successfully argued before the Iowa Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, securing victories on issues such as illegal narcotics searches and violations of clients' rights to counsel.
Mr. Rothman earned both his law degree and Bachelor of Arts in Rhetoric from Drake University, where he excelled in mock trial competitions, notably defeating Harvard Law School to win the ATLA North Eastern Regional mock trial tournament in Boston, Massachusetts.
