About Kelli Cooper
Kelli Cooper, a proud native of the Kansas City Metro area, began her academic journey at Blue Valley North High School, graduating in 2003. She pursued a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Kansas State University, completing her degree in the fall of 2006. During her time at Kansas State, Kelli was actively engaged in extracurricular activities, including the women's collegiate rowing team, a sorority, and animal rescue initiatives, while also participating in a study abroad program.
Kelli embarked on her legal education at the University of Kansas School of Law as a summer starter in 2007. Her focus was on advocacy, honing her skills in trial and motion work. She was instrumental in founding and served as Vice President of the KU Animal Litigation Defence Fund. Her practical experience was further enriched by a judicial internship with a local criminal defense attorney, which inspired her to establish her own legal practice.
In the fall of 2010, Kelli passed the Kansas Bar and launched her law practice in Olathe, Kansas. By spring 2011, she had also passed the Missouri Bar, expanding her practice to include Missouri cases. Initially, her practice focused on both household and criminal law. Over time, Kelli's passion for family law became more pronounced, leading her to concentrate on cases involving divorces, custody, parenting time, and support.
Kelli has maintained her commitment to animal law, particularly in defending cases related to dangerous dog legislation and breed-specific laws. Her professional affiliations include the Kansas Bar Association, Johnson County Bar Association, Kansas Women Attorney Association, and the Missouri Bar Association.
Residing in Olathe, Kansas, with her husband and two Bernese Mountain Dogs, Kelli remains actively involved in animal rescue. Her dogs occasionally accompany her to the office, reflecting her passion for integrating personal interests with her professional life.
