About Christopher Kinnison
Christopher Kinnison has dedicated his career to the practice of immigration law, driven by a profound commitment to assist those in need. Born in Thailand in 1978 near the Cambodian border, Chris's early exposure to refugee crises shaped his lifelong passion. He observed firsthand the plight of refugees from the Cambodian civil war, a formative experience that continues to influence his work today.
After graduating from Auburn University in 2001, Chris spent two years in Cambodia. During this time, he taught English at the Royal University of Phnom Penh and worked in an internal displacement camp, further igniting his dedication to helping individuals in dire circumstances. Upon returning to the United States in 2003, Chris pursued a master of arts in theological studies in the Bay Area.
In 2007, Chris relocated to Baton Rouge to attend the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. There, he participated in an immigration law clinic, successfully representing clients seeking U visas and filing VAWA petitions. Chris graduated cum laude in 2010, earning his juris doctor degree.
Chris has built a successful legal career over the past nine years. In his initial five years, he worked at a mid-sized law firm recognized by Fortune Magazine in 2013 as one of the top-rated law firms in the United States. His accomplishments were further acknowledged in 2019 when Super Lawyers Magazine named him to the list of 2019 Louisiana Rising Stars, an honor for the top 5% of lawyers in Louisiana.
Since 2010, Chris has focused exclusively on immigration law, providing comprehensive legal services across Louisiana and Mississippi. His dedication often takes him to various detention centers, where he tirelessly advocates for his immigrant clients.
