C. Scott Courrege

C. Scott Courrege is a distinguished attorney practicing in Louisiana since 2018, following his graduation as the top student in his law school class. Raised in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, he completed his high school education at St. Stanislaus High School in 1998. In 2001, Scott began his career in law enforcement as a police officer with the Gulfport Police Department, simultaneously earning his B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Scott's federal law enforcement career commenced in 2003 with the United States Border Patrol, where he served as a Senior Patrol Agent in the San Diego Sector Air Mobile Unit. He later transitioned to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as a Special Agent within the Phoenix Field Division. In 2008, Scott moved to the private sector to oversee security operations, managing the international transfer of high-value assets.

Returning to public service in 2009, Scott joined the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office. There, he held multiple roles, including positions in the Uniform Patrol Division, Community Policing Unit, Special Community Anti-Crime Team, and Narcotics Division. As a Narcotics Detective Sergeant, he was assigned as a federal Task Force Agent at the Baton Rouge DEA District Office, where he led significant federal investigations resulting in numerous arrests nationwide.

Scott's academic achievements include serving as a Senior Editor for the Southern University Law Review, which published his article on the impact of marijuana legalization on Louisiana's DWI laws. He received multiple Cali Awards for Excellence in various legal subjects, including Judicial Writing, Legal Research, and Advanced Legal Writing. Scott pursued his legal education through the evening division program at the Southern University Law Center while working with the sheriff's office.
