Michael D. Lowe

Michael D. Lowe serves as a partner in the Shreveport office of Kean Miller, where he is a key member of the litigation group. His expertise spans labor and employment law, construction litigation, and commercial litigation. Michael is dedicated to representing clients in both state and federal courts, as well as before agencies such as the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), and the Louisiana Commission on Human Rights (LCHR).

In his employment law practice, Michael offers comprehensive support in litigation involving labor and employment issues. He provides guidance on policy development, drafting and enforcing employment contracts, including non-competition, confidentiality, and non-solicitation agreements. His role extends to advising on employee hiring, counseling, discipline, and termination processes. Michael is adept at preparing, litigating, and defending non-compete agreements and other restrictive covenants.

Michael also assists business owners with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access matters, commonly referred to as "drive-by" or "Google" lawsuits. His legal services extend to municipalities and government agencies, focusing on disputes related to Louisiana’s civil service laws and regulations.

In the realm of construction law, Michael handles all facets of litigation and trial practice. He represents clients in engineer/architect claims and alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration and mediation. He works with both contractors and owners on drafting and reviewing construction contracts, ensuring compliance with original documents and industry standards.

Additionally, Michael has experience representing clients in administrative protests under public procurement and public bid laws. He is well-versed in handling issues related to Louisiana’s lien laws, covering both the Louisiana Public and Private Works Acts.
