John R. Walker

John R. Walker, a Partner at SBSB's Houston office, brings nearly twenty-five years of experience representing insurance and employer interests. His practice focuses on the Longshore and Harbor Act, Defense Base Act, Non-Appropriated Funds Instrumentalities Act, Jones Act, and General Maritime and Admiralty Law. Additionally, John is well-versed in First Party Insurance Defense, representing employers, insurance carriers, and third parties across state, federal, and appellate courts.

Before joining SBSB, John managed First Party Insurance Defense, Maritime, and Admiralty cases in both state and federal courts. His scholarly contributions include several articles in the Corporate Counsel Review, notably "The Contingent Workforce in Texas - What Every Corporate Counsel Using Temporary, Contract, or Leased Employees Needs to Know" (Corp. Counsel Rev. 2010).

John is a sought-after speaker, frequently lecturing at Continuing Education courses for insurance carriers and conducting seminars on diverse civil litigation topics. He holds an undergraduate degree from Baylor University, where he led as Commodore of the Sailing Team. He earned his law degree from South Texas College of Law, participating in the South Texas Law Review.

John is licensed to practice law in Texas and admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Ninth Circuits, and the U.S. Court of International Trade.
