Sarah Irving Gilbert

Sarah Irving Gilbert has built a distinguished legal career in midcoast Maine, where she is recognized for her determination and empathetic approach. Raised in Machias, Sarah maintains a deep connection to her Downeast roots. She pursued higher education at Vassar College in New York and earned her law degree magna cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law. During her time there, she was awarded scholarships and served as a professor's assistant, teaching constitutional law, torts, and courtroom writing. Her academic journey also included a semester at the historic University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

Upon graduating, Sarah served as a law clerk for the Honorable Donald G. Alexander of the Maine Supreme Court. Sarah's collaboration with her mother, the Hon. Rebecca A. Irving, led to a notable $2.3 million judgment for a sexual assault survivor in Washington County. She frequently appears before Maine's highest court, where she has effectively argued and defended numerous cases.
