Alexander Williams Jr.

Alexander Williams Jr., a retired judge from the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, focuses his legal practice on complex civil litigation and federal criminal cases. He is the only practicing retired Federal Judge in Maryland advising clients on these intricate matters. Judge Williams retired on January 3, 2014, after a distinguished career on the bench.

During his tenure, Judge Williams authored over seven volumes of published opinions and presided over more than 6,000 complex civil cases and 1,000 federal criminal cases. His extensive judicial experience provides clients with unique insights into the legal process.

Appointed to the federal bench by President Clinton in 1994, Judge Williams previously served Prince George’s County in various roles, including State’s Attorney for two terms, Public Defender, Special Counsel, Hearing Examiner, and Substitute Juvenile Master. His diverse legal background also includes a successful private practice in Maryland and Washington, DC.

Judge Williams is a founder, member, and the first president of the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association, Inc. Additionally, he has been a longstanding Professor at Howard University Law School.
