David Ludwig

David Ludwig is a seasoned partner at Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig PLLC, where he specializes in civil litigation. His expertise spans patent, trademark, copyright, internet/domain names, commercial transactions, government contracts, community associations, and bankruptcy law/creditor's rights. David has successfully represented both local and national clients in federal and state courts, as well as in bankruptcy proceedings. His notable experience includes representing manufacturing companies in complex patent infringement cases, technology firms in trademark disputes, and copyright holders in actions against major entities like Disney and ABC.

In 2012, David achieved a significant legal milestone by persuading the Virginia Supreme Court to establish new law, allowing prevailing homeowners to recover attorneys' fees in disputes with Homeowners Associations that breach their own governing documents.

David earned his law degree from The George Washington University Law School, graduating in the top third of his class. During his time there, he contributed as a student teacher of legal research and writing, and served as an articles editor for the American Intellectual Property Law Association Quarterly Journal. Currently, he is an adjunct professor of scholarly writing, guiding law students on the AIPLA Quarterly Journal.
