Jason G. Miller

Jason G. Miller offers extensive expertise in criminal law at Alpert Schreyer Criminal Defense Attorneys, drawing on over 15 years of experience. Previously serving as an assistant state's attorney for Anne Arundel County, he has managed a wide range of criminal defense cases, including DUI, traffic offenses, and homicide. Mr. Miller's proficiency in the courtroom is evidenced by his experience in hundreds of criminal bench trials and numerous jury trials, equipping him to effectively challenge prosecutors at all stages of a trial.

Mr. Miller launched his legal career at the State’s Attorney’s Office, progressing from a law clerk to Chief of the District Court. His responsibilities included handling DUIs, misdemeanors, burglaries, violent crimes, and sexual offenses. In 2010, he obtained a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) certification for administering standardized field sobriety tests.

Further enhancing his skill set, Mr. Miller attended the National Computer Forensics Institute twice for specialized training in computer forensics and cellular devices. Over the past five years, he has been entrusted with the supervision and training of new attorneys, culminating in his appointment as Director of Attorney Training in 2021 for the State’s Attorney’s Office. His role in training provides him with unique insights into securing favorable outcomes for his clients.

In 2019, Mr. Miller was certified by the Maryland Police and Corrections Training Commission as an instructor in constitutional law, criminal law, search warrants, use of force, and charging documents. He frequently serves as a guest instructor for various local law enforcement agencies, the University of Maryland DUI Institute, the Fort Meade Drunk & Drugged Driving seminar, and the Maryland State’s Attorney’s Association. Additionally, Mr. Miller began teaching trial advocacy as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Baltimore School of Law in spring 2023, leveraging his experience to educate judges and juries on prosecutorial deficiencies.
