Sean Carnathan

Sean Carnathan is a partner and founder of O'Connor, Carnathan and Mack, LLC, where he excels in complex business litigation. His practice areas include insurance coverage, closely held businesses, and trust and estate litigation. Since 1993, Sean has been active in litigation across the United States, from Texas to Minnesota and California to Maine, despite being based in Massachusetts.

Sean has extensive trial and arbitration experience, having handled over 25 cases in state and federal courts across Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. He has successfully recovered millions of dollars for his clients and frequently advises corporate executives on employment contracts and non-compete clauses.

In addition to representing policyholders in insurance disputes, Sean has significant experience in real estate and construction conflicts. He has represented financial institutions like State Street Bank and Trust Company, as well as investment funds such as Tuckerbrook Alternative Investments and NTV Management. His work with small, closely held companies further showcases his diverse expertise.

An accomplished author, Sean wrote "Massachusetts Bad Faith Insurance Litigation," with its second edition released in 2020, providing a comprehensive guide to bad faith insurance cases under M.G. L. c. 176D. He is also a member of the Trial Law Institute and Diversity Law Institute of the Litigation Counsel of America.

Recently, Sean was appointed as a neutral at AMANDA ADR, offering mediation and arbitration services. He is a frequent commentator on legal matters and has published numerous articles throughout his career.
