Mark A. Cashman

Mark A. Cashman is a seasoned attorney with extensive experience in handling complex cases involving medical negligence, dangerous and defective products, landlord negligence, and motor vehicle collisions. Licensed to practice in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, Mark has achieved numerous significant outcomes for his clients. Notably, he secured a $3.5 million settlement for a surgical error, a $2.8 million verdict for a delayed prostate cancer diagnosis, a $1 million settlement for untreated retinal detachment, and a $900,000 settlement for a delayed breast cancer diagnosis. Additionally, he played a key role in obtaining a $6.1 million settlement for a family affected by a fatal drunk driving incident.

Before joining Sweeney Merrigan, Mark honed his legal skills at two prominent Boston law firms, worked with Federal Judge Marianne B. Bowler, and served in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Boston. He is a proud graduate of Suffolk University Law School (J.D.) and Boston College (B.A.). During his time at law school, he was distinguished as the Best Oral Advocate in his legal practice skills section and participated in the Constitutional Law Moot Court Team.

Mark further demonstrated his leadership and legal acumen as an editor for the Moot Court Honor Board and Journal of Trial & Appellate Advocacy, eventually being elected President by his peers. He is actively involved in the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys (MATA).

In recognition of his dedication to victim advocacy, Mark was awarded the President’s Award from MATA in 2013.
