About Oran Kaufman
Oran Kaufman graduated from Washington University in 1985 and earned his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 1988. He began his legal career clerking for the justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court from 1988 to 1989. In 1989, he joined Burres Fidnick and Booth as an attorney, becoming a partner in 1996 when the firm was renamed Burres Fidnick Booth and Kaufman. After 15 years with the firm, Oran launched his solo practice in 2004, focusing on domestic relations, including divorces, paternities, divorce modifications, non-traditional family issues, and guardianships.
In 1994, Oran founded Amherst Mediation Services to provide an alternative to conventional litigation. His extensive experience in Probate and Family Court highlighted the limitations of the court system in effectively managing family crises like divorce. Mediation offers a more participant-controlled process that fosters communication and is often more cost-effective and quicker than traditional litigation. However, Oran recognizes that mediation is not suitable for every situation.
Oran remains committed to delivering legal services that are professional, courteous, and sensitive to the financial, emotional, and familial needs of his clients.
