About Courtney L Thom
Courtney L Thom, a native of Mid-Michigan, pursued her undergraduate studies at Central Michigan University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She furthered her education at Michigan State University College of Law, achieving her Juris Doctor with Magna Cum Laude honors.
Courtney was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in October 2007. She began her legal career as a judicial law clerk for the Midland County Circuit Court, where she conducted extensive legal research across various areas of law. After passing the Florida Bar Exam, she served as an Assistant State Attorney for the 17th Judicial Circuit in Broward County, Florida, prosecuting adult and juvenile cases.
Returning to Michigan, Courtney took on the role of Assistant Prosecutor in Isabella County, where she continued her work in criminal prosecution. In 2011, she transitioned to private practice by joining the firm of Mathieu & Lee, PLC. There, she expanded her expertise to include criminal defense and domestic relations, covering divorce, custody, child support, and parenting time.
In early 2014, Courtney joined W. Jay Brown, PLC, now known as Brown Law, PLC. She continues to represent clients in criminal defense and family law, guiding them from case initiation through trial and all intermediate stages. While her primary office is in Midland, she regularly practices in Saginaw, Gladwin, Isabella, and Bay Counties.
